YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT
On arrival please fill out the health questionnaire provided on the clipboard. Your therapist will come to meet you and take you into the therapy room. Next, you will go into the restroom to empty out your bladder (the bladder has a tendency to fill up during the session), undress from the waist down and put on a fresh clean gown. Back in the treatment room, you will lie on a treatment table face up, on your back with a sheet over your lower half to maintain your personal comfort and peace of mind. The therapist will then explain how the colon therapy equipment works and the treatment procedure.
A disposable speculum is well lubricated and then gently inserted into the rectum. A UV plus
two filter system carries warm water into the colon. The Well-Being uses a 'closed' system
which means waste is transported into the drain line without any offensive odor or
compromising the dignity of our clients. You will be able to see what the colon is eliminating
( if you care to ) through an illuminated glass tube connected equipment. During your session
the colon hydrotherapist will do a series of fills and releases. A fill occurs when the therapist
stops the water from flowing out of your body. This is done in a similar way as you would plug
a drain in a bathtub, and just like the water in the tub filling the bath, during your colonic the
water will fill your colon. This allows the water to travel through the entire colon-assuming
there are no blockages or impactions not yet released. By opening the "drain", the water and excess
fecal material is released and your body’s natural peristaltic action (the muscle movement of the colon) takes over. Individual disposables are used which eliminate any possible contamination to the client. After each colon therapy session, the equiptment is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected for future use.
A skilled International Association of Colon Therapists (I-ACT) certified colon hydrotherapist, will sit next to you throughout your treatment. She may use several fills and releases of water, light abdominal massage techniques (if consented) with pure organic massage oil. An infrared light wand is used to dislodge toxic waste matter adhering to the walls of the colon. The dislodged fecal matter is then gently washed away through the system's waste tube. During the session, water temperature is monitored closely by the therapist and can be varied to stimulate peristalsis in the colon. This is very important to help the atonic (sluggish) colon. Colon hydrotherapy is not addictive. It encourages the restoration of the colon's natural function by strengthening peristalsis and hydrates the colon.
A Well-Being colon hydrotherapy session lasts approximately one hour per office visit (slightly longer for your first visit). Initially, a series of at least three separate therapy sessions is recommended to achieve the maximum cleansing benefit. This helps to eliminate fecal matter, which may have been lodged in the colon for weeks, months, or even years. With colon hydrotherapy, the entire large intestine is cleansed which makes the therapeutic benefits much greater than those achieved with an enema. Enema cleansings are limited to the recto-sigmoid area and cannot take the water further that that into the colon. Over-the-counter laxitives only stimulate expulsion of the contents in the rectum,and contribute to dehydration, colon muscle weakness which may exacerbate a constipated condition.
During a colon hydrotherapy session, gallons of water will be passed
in and out of the colon. Throughout the session your colon therapist will use a
combination of abdominal massage, deep breathing techniques, infrared light,
aromatherapy, and reflexology to help promote even more eliminations of toxic waste.
One colon hydrotherapy session may be equivalent to having several regular bowel
movements. As you continue colon therapy, future sessions can prove to be even more
effective as the older, harder mucus coated feces are soften and dislodged from the
colon walls.
At the Well-Being your colon therapist will answer any questions and communicate with you throughout your
session. Upon conclusion, she will evaluate your session progress and determine if any further sessions would be beneficial. Many people have reported a feeling of mental clarity, heightened energy, a renewed sense of well-being, and vitality after a colon hydrotherapy session. Since your colon will be cleaner, you may experience more frequent, fuller, easier eliminations which may improve your overall health.
An initial series of 3 or more sessions spaced 7 -10 days apart is recommended. The therapist can discuss your options after your first session. If you decide to do a series of three, a maintenance plan of one session per month is recommended. We offer a special package for 3 sessions.
